There are a number of reasons why someone would consider undergoing plastic surgery in order to improve the overall shape, contour, and appearance of his or her body. Sometimes there are excess pockets of fat that will not go away even with strenuous exercise and a healthy diet. After a substantial amount of weight loss–like the weight loss that is experienced following bariatric surgery–loose skin may not tighten and conform to a person’s slimmer frame. Even pregnancy can affect body contour, causing stretch marks, loose skin, and other body changes.

Thankfully there are a number of plastic surgery options available to people who seek to improve their body contour. Below is a brief rundown of the most common body contouring surgeries performed. Your eligibility for these surgeries and the combination of body contouring surgeries that are right for you will be determined in a consultation with your cosmetic surgeon.

One of the most common body contouring surgeries is liposuction. Liposuction is able to remove stubborn pockets of fat from the body. During the surgical procedure, the cosmetic surgeon uses a thin instrument called a cannula to suction out fat from the patient’s body. Liposuction can b performed in the abdominal region, buttocks, thighs, torso, arms, neck, and even certain parts of the face.

Another common body contouring surgery is an an abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure that targets the abdominal region. During the procedure, the surgeon will make incisions along the lower abdomen from hip bone to hip bone, extract excess fat, and excise excess tissue. A tummy tuck is often performed in conjunction with liposuction in order to ensure all pockets of stubborn fat are removed.

In addition to abdominoplasty and liposuction, other body contouring procedures include arms lift, thigh lights, and buttock lifts. In many cases, when a person has lost a lot of weight from bariatric surgery, a body lift is performed. A body lift is a series of lifts designed to address body contouring issues in different parts of the body. A body lift is usually performed in several stages and not all at once.

Liposuction is a common enough procedure these days and one of the highest requested treatments. The treatment will permanently get rid of fatty tissue and will improve the shape of your body. The procedure can be carried out on an outpatient’s basis, using a general anesthetic. People choose to undergo liposuction for a number of reasons; many have the procedure as they want to improve their body contour. They might experience excess weight from pregnancy or areas of fat that won’t disappear even with diet and exercise. As we age certain parts of our bodies gain weight that can’t always be removed through exercise, ‘love handles’ and ‘back fat’ are some examples. For others, they choose liposuction to gain confidence. Self-consciousness about parts of our bodies we don’t like can prevent us from dressing as we like or doing certain activities. The most common areas that gain excess fat are the stomach, thighs, hips and buttocks and face. Before undergoing any surgery, however minor, it is important to consult a doctor. It is important your health is good; there is also an age limit of eighteen years old. Liposuction is not a procedure suitable for people with heart problems or serious overweight. Any healing to occur has to have a healthy flow of blood to the treated area; health issues will affect the speed of the recovery process. This could then cause complications or an infection. After a visit to your doctor and you are approved, make an appointment with the surgeon. Ensure they have the appropriate authorities, and have experience in liposuction procedures. Forward them any questions you might have.

A surgeon for this type of treatment will examine if you are suitable for treatment. You skin should still have enough elasticity and be toned. Patients are always advised to try diet and exercise first to see if the fatty tissue can be removed naturally, before agreeing to perform liposuction. Persons with overweight might be asked to lose some and return again when reached the ideal weight. Your emotional and psychological state will also be determined along with your physical health before any surgery is agreed. They will provide realistic expectations as to what can be achieved and how the treated area will look after the procedure. Age is always a factor that has to be considered, many of the liposuction treatments are to deal with the effects of aging, if the skin is too loose or wrinkled this means it doesn’t have a lot of elasticity and liposuction treatment might not be as effective. If the treatment is carried out anyway it might later have to undergo another procedure whereby the loose skin is tightened. Liposuction should not be viewed as an alternative instead of exercise and dieting. If after exercising you still have unsightly pockets of fatty tissue that won’t move, then liposuction could be for you. Liposuction is not a replacement for weight reduction or a cure for obesity. Liposuction is a very successful procedure and the majority of people who undergo the treatment are happy with the results. Results are immediately noticeable and the outcome pleasing. Recovery time after liposuction is minimal too. Liposuction is generally seen as a safe procedure, but always be informed of the risks as with any surgery risks will be involved. A good surgeon will always ensure you are clear regarding any information you need. A skilled and experienced surgeon will take every aspect into consideration before agreeing to perform liposuction on you. Always check how many times they have performed the Liposuction treatment and ask for references and cost of liposuction before making your final decision.

Body Contouring Surgery Defined

Body contouring surgery is a form of cosmetic surgery that is performed by a professional, licensed surgeon, on a person who either desires or requires it. Generally speaking, such surgery targets a specific area or part of the body that requires modifications or cosmetic refining. Anatomical parts that can be modified range from the arms to the buttocks and abdominal area.

There are several different variants of body contouring surgery including liposuction, breast augmentation/reduction, tummy tucks, and arm/thigh lifts. Regardless of the variant, the main goal is to remedy, augment or decrease an abnormality or aesthetical deformity that causes the individual physical or psychological malaise.

Body Contouring Surgery: Its variants and specific proceedings

Liposuction: Liposuction is one of the most common and popular forms of body contouring surgery on the market. It consists of draining out globs of fatty deposits from the patient’s body using a suction device that functions similarly to the common vacuum. Occasionally, lipids (fatty substances) are converted into a liquid state using a device called a ULA, or the fat cells may be liquidized using an ultrasound assisted lipoplasty. The liquefied fat cells are then drained from the punctured orifice. The procedure, as a stand-alone, generally takes two hours to complete and is usually performed under general anesthesia.

Breast Lifts: Breast lifting is a common surgical procedure most often performed on women; however, it can be performed on men as well, more specifically those who have experienced dramatic weight loss. As women age, many notice unflattering changes to their breasts (i.e., sagging) – thanks to gravity. A body-altering procedure such as a breast lift can reverse gravity’s effects. To perform a breast lift, the surgeon extracts excess skin and fatty deposits from the patient’s breasts and then tightens the surrounding tissue. As a result, the breasts acquire a firmer, more youthful appearance. A breast lift procedure can take approximately three hours, requires general anesthesia, and can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Tummy Tucks: A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a popular form of body contouring surgery. The procedure is recommended for people who have accumulated excess skin around the abdominal area, often due to the rapid loss of excess weight in a short period of time through exercise, dieting, or liposuction, and in some cases, due to postpartum residue. To conduct a tummy tuck, the surgeon will remove the excess skin in the middle lower section, stretch the remaining skin, create a new naval when necessary, and then suture the area. Depending on the extent of work necessary, the surgery can take from three to five hours to complete. The results consist of a smoother, firmer, flatter abdomen, and the disappearance of unsightly stretch marks.

Arm and Thigh Lifts: Arm lifts or brachioplasty is a form of body contouring surgery whereby the shape of the upper arms is reconstructed. It is performed to eliminate excess skin and fat in the region of the upper arm and arm pit. The skin is lifted and excess skin is removed. The area, including the muscle, is then tightened to give the arm a firmer appearance. Thigh lifts or thighplasty is a similar body contouring procedure in which excess skin is removed from the area of the thighs and buttocks. As a result, the region is tightened, leaving behind a more attractive, firmer thigh area. Both arm lifts and thigh lifts vary in terms of the length of time needed for the surgery: the more work required, the longer the surgery will take.

Body Contouring Surgery: Who is Eligible?

Body contouring surgery is recommended for men and women who want to have a part of their body refined or modified via cosmetic surgery. Many of the candidates have developed sagging skin, stretch marks, wrinkles, and drooping or flabby buttocks, breasts, thighs, arms etc., due to excessive loss of body fat through dieting, rigorous exercise, and/or gastric bypass surgery.

Most patients desire to reshape their bodies in order to be more attractive, thereby feeling more youthful and happy about themselves. Ergo, the clientele can range from women who have been pregnant and now want to reshape their postpartum bodies, to men who suffer from gynecomastia (the development of large, female-like breasts).

People with psychological disorders and young persons are generally not eligible for body contouring surgery because of inherent risks (i.e, depression over one’s physique) or the malevolent ramifications of altering a still-developing and maturing body (i.e., children and those in pubertal growth).

Body Contouring for Men

Article by Dr. Pejman Bahari

Metrosexual is no longer a dirty word. Just the opposite, men who take care of themselves and actively pursue self-improvement are not only accepted but more and more recognized as trendsetters. Women appreciate metrosexuality; other men are taking notice and follow the trend; the society has no problem with well-groomed men. Needless to say, a man who takes care of himself has a competitive edge in a business world as well. Those who look the part get promoted first, have more career opportunities and usually higher income. In other words, metrosexuality is good for you and is gradually becoming the norm.

For the sake of this article, let’s focus on just one aspect: body contouring for men who care about their overall appearance. Both men and women suffer from stubborn fat deposits that afflict even the healthiest and fittest of us. The fat distribution in males and females however follows distinctly different patterns. For men the main areas of concern are: excessive breast tissue, the infamous “love handles” and neckline. Some men want to improve what Nature gave them; some want to fight signs of aging; others take interest in body contouring after they’ve lost a large amount of weight. All of them are valid reasons and the issues they present can be successfully addressed with body contouring for men.Excess breast tissue is considered effeminate which is why males are anxious to get rid of it. The male flanks compromise the male body’s contour making the whole silhouette much less attractive. The neckline can be misshapen by excess fat or sagging. There are areas of the body where fat deposits are temporary and can be gotten rid off with a regimen of a healthy diet and exercise. Some fat pockets form regardless of one’s lifestyle and are impossible to get rid of. Some may be inherited: you might be genetically predisposed to having them. In the last two cases, no diet and no exercise will help you liberate yourself from the unsightly fat. All of these issues can be resolved with body contouring for men. Depending on the size of your fat deposits the solution may be either liposuction for men or liposculpture for men. Liposuction is appropriate for larger fat deposits, while the smaller ones are handled better with liposculpture.

How does body contouring for men work?Until recently, the only available body-contouring options were laser- and ultra sound-based. (Both technologies compel the physician to take stringent safety measures to prevent internal and external burns to the patient which has some impact on the quality of the outcome.) Recently, the FDA has approved a new minimally-invasive, safe and precise body contouring technology. The breakthrough I’m referring to is the Euromi High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture technology. The device isn’t heat-assisted and consequently, the physician doesn’t have the constraints typical with laser or ultra-sonic devices. The microcannula used in Euromi High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture (a thin, hollow metal instrument used in body contouring for men) produces low frequency -10Hz – vibration. The vibration stimulates the body’s natural pain defense and causes an endorphin release that begins about 30 minutes from the start of the procedure and continues for up to 36 hours thereafter acting as a natural pain control. (The microcannula itself is much thinner than those used with other liposuction technologies: it is a mere 2 millimeter in diameter which is approximately the size of a tip of a pen.) Because the cannula is tiny and vibration-assisted the physician is able to reach any area of the body that requires better definition without a risk to the patient. Even those genetically-predetermined fat deposits that consist of particularly fibrous fat cells can be liposuctioned successfully with the Euromi technology. The Euromi High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture technology used in body contouring for men produces excellent results. But that’s not all; it has several other advantages over the laser- and S/U-assisted procedures. Euromi High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture are performed on out-patient basis, without general anesthesia and are basically painless. Since the instrument used is significantly thinner than others, no stitches are required and no scarring – or a very minimal scarring – is to be expected. The vibration of the device causes the skin above the liposuctioned area to retract well and heal smoothly. If you have your body contouring for men scheduled for Thursday or Friday, you can expect to resume work on Monday without skipping a beat. The final and very important advantage of the Euromi High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture is the fact that it enables the physician to save and process your fat harvested during your body contouring procedure for your other needs. (If you’re surprised, let me explain: heat-assisted devices destroy the fat collected during the procedure, making it unusable. With Euromi, the patient has the option to reuse his own fat for such procedures as wrinkle injections, facial or butt enhancement or even instantly muscular calves. As they say, the more you know….)

It’s your body; it’s your life and cosmetic medicine isn’t an exclusive domain of women anymore. If looking better will make you feel better, by all means: body contouring for men is the way to go. With that said, choose the technology wisely. The vibration-assisted method will give you the body you wish for with no risk of burns, minimal discomfort and downtime. The method is the safest to date and FDA approved. Incidentally, the cost of Euromi High Definition Body Contouring for Men is usually lower than that of the same procedure performed with other technologies.

Body contouring has quickly become a fantastic new way for men and women to remove excess, unwanted fat for a smoother, more contoured shape. As body contouring procedures continue to grow in popularity, individuals are becoming more body conscious and therefore striving to achieve a more contoured body shape. There are several different procedures currently available that range from non-invasive to invasive that can help men and women to achieve the contoured shape they are striving to achieve. Researching each treatment option will give you the opportunity to discover which body contouring procedure will work the best for your specific needs. Below are the most commonly sought after treatments for effective body contouring.VelaShape: VelaShape is a revolutionary fat reduction treatment that features the innovative elos technology for lasting fat reduction results. Elos technology utilizes bi-polar radio frequency and laser light technology in conjunction with vacuum suction and mechanical massage to effectively target and treat problem areas of excess unwanted fat. The combination of these components works to increase the metabolism of stored energy, increase lymphatic drainage and decrease the size of the fat chambers and fat cells within the skin layers-all of which can lead to an overall more contoured shape.SmoothShapes: SmoothShapes is another non-invasive body contouring treatment that is truly revolutionary because it employs a scientific approach to unwanted fat and cellulite reduction. Unlike all other non-invasive body contouring devices currently available, the SmoothShapes system effectively treats unwanted fat by improving the overall condition of engorged fat cells and fibrous septae through a unique mechanism of action which combines contoured rollers and vacuum suction with dynamic laser and light energy in order to specifically target problem fat areas. The laser light causes the liquefication of unwanted fat cells while the vacuum suction and contoured rollers move simultaneously with this application of the light energy help to move liquefied lipids into the lymphatic system for natural removal. Your results–tighter, smoother looking skin and a more contoured shape that provides lasting results.Liposuction: Liposuction is the most traditional of all the body contouring procedures available, and it is also the most invasive. This surgical procedure is designed to remove excess unwanted fat from any area of the face or body. Tiny incisions are made beneath the outer layers of skin where a steel tube called a cannula is then inserted. Once inserted, the cannula is then attached to vacuum suction which works to literally ‘suck’ the excess fat from between the skin and muscle. This procedure is somewhat risky, is very painful and requires extensive downtime, however patients who undergo this treatment are left with a smooth, contoured look and feel that lasts.Laser Lipolysis: Laser Lipolysis body contouring treatments first hit the market in the form of the revolutionary new SmartLipo procedure. This treatment is similar to tradition liposuction, however advancements in technology have made SmartLipo less risky and less invasive. While laser lipolysis is still considered an invasive procedure, smaller incisions and less localized tissue damage mean less pain and, less downtime all while providing patients with better results. Laser lipolysis requires just a single incision and through that incision a cannula is inserted; within the cannula resides the laser fiber. The laser fiber effectively liquefies excess fat cells so that they can then be removed from the treatment site which leaves patients with a tighter, more contoured shape. There are many body contouring treatments that are very common and very popular today, therefore before getting started with any one of them, be sure to weigh all the pros and cons of each to ensure you are making the best decision possible. Find out more about all of these innovative body contouring treatments today.

Body Sculpting 101: Males and Liposuction treatment

Today, more and more men are becoming conscious of their physiques. For some, going to the gym or taking supplements is no longer enough. This is especially true for older men, as they find that they need to exert effort harder, as they slowly lose the battle by putting on more pounds while getting tired more easily. In such cases, science and medical technology has provided an answer in the form of liposuction.

Although commonly attached to females who are known for their keen consciousness of their appearance, liposuction and other kinds of cosmetic surgery to lose weight or tone down bodies are increasingly gaining popularity to male population.

According to Ohio State University students who studied the effects of physicality on both genders, girls are focused to make their legs and thighs liner while boys are into sculpting their middle sections to get that sexy six-pack abs. However, one of men’s best friends, beers, makes it hard for them to shed pounds especially when they reach their middle ages. Moreover, men who are in their middle ages are facing common symptoms of depression so to them getting a liposuction is the easiest way to feel good.

Since men are more focused on the middle section of the body, liposuction operations for men are usually more expensive compared to females. The gender doesn’t affect the cost rather it’s the volume of fats that will be taken out of your body. Generally, men are larger in size than women thus the surgery involves bigger areas of the body. In addition, the male body fats are more fibrous than those of women’s bodies therefore the surgery is more complex and time consuming.

Some male patients get a liposuction surgery to cure their Gynecomastia, a physical abnormality where the men’s chests are larger than the usual. Liposuction will lessen the size and volume of fats in the male’s breast which cures their Gynecomastia.

According to liposuction for men online site (http://www.liposuctionmen.com/), among the top five lists of cosmetic surgeries for men, Liposuction is highly taken by men. Among the other procedures on the lists are Rhinoplasty, breast reduction, eyelid surgery, and facelift. Based on a recent study, almost half of the males or more than 32% get a liposuction in America.

Although getting a liposuction is a good way to encourage yourself from losing those unwanted fats, doctors would still recommend their patients to maintain their bodies through a well-balanced diet, daily workout, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with less vices.

We all want the same body – slender, curvy and fit. Tell me who doesn’t want this kind of physique that could make even the most dense of strangers crane his neck to look at you? Everyone, most especially women, yearn to achieve and maintain the voluptuous and sexy body models on runways and billboards sport. Sadly enough, not all people are created equal. While there are some born with this amazing body, there are some who still struggle to get at least half of that awesomeness. Diet and exercise can only take you so far.

If you’re one among the many who diet and exercise religiously yet still have excess fats in certain parts of the body, say, on your stomach, thighs and neck, you may want to check out laser lipo in Connecticut. It’s a less invasive and more convenient procedure compared to the traditional liposuction that we’ve known.

For one, local and not general anesthesia is used so there’s less complications post-surgery. Secondly, it’s non-invasive. Unlike traditional liposuction where incisions are made on the areas where fat deposits are suctioned, laser lipo in Connecticut doesn’t as it uses laser energy to dissolve the fats.

There are various laser lipo techniques and all are proven and tested to work excellently. Laser lipo in Connecticut should help sculpt your body in the way you want it, with less the complications of your ordinary lipo.

The most popular laser lipo technique is the SmartLipo. As discussed, this technique focuses the power of laser energy on the areas where fat deposits should be melted. Yes, laser lipo in Connecticut melts the fat deposits, they’re not vacuumed out. Aside from getting rid of the excess fats, SmartLipo also helps in the development of collagen so the skin where the area has been worked on appears tighter and smoother. Smart lipo is best applied on the stomach, thighs, arms or on any other large part of the body.

Another laser lipo technique you might want to check out is the SmartLipo MPX. This one works doubly hard as it doesn’t only dissolves fats, it also treats cellulite. It can be used on both the body and face so you’re assured that it’s safe and gentle enough.

It’s a fact that excess fats don’t only exist on the usual areas like the tummy and arms. You may also have a stubborn lot of ‘em on your neck, chin and jowls. While traditional lipo can’t necessarily remove them, laser lipo in Connecticut could help you finally say adios to them. The Cool Lipo Laser technique is performed with a 1320 nm wavelength source filter which is small enough to target the small areas. So you’re definitely sure to be slender all over!

All in all, the laser lipo is a good way to get that toned body you’ve always dreamed of. It is convenient, non-invasive and safe. To know more about laser lipo and the other techniques, call your trusted cosmetic surgeon in Connecticut now and book a consultation appointment!
